History of Kajukenbo

What is Kajukenbo

What is Kajukenbo?

Kajukenbo is a Mixed Martial Arts system developed in the Palama settlement on Oahu, Hawai’i in the 1940s. The system’s founders; Sijo Adriano D. Emperado, Joseph Holck, Peter Young Yil Choo, Frank F. Ordonez, and Clarence Chang, sought to develop a system of self-defense utilizing the various techniques from their respective martial arts. Kajukenbo’s name is derived from the styles that the founders practiced: Ka (Karate), Ju (Judo & Jujitsu), Ken (Kenpo), and Bo (Western & Chinese Boxing).
